HISTORY
The original Long Meadow or Spangelo estate is
in Norway and dates back to 1522. We have charts going back this
far. The name changed several times but has been Spangelo for
over 100 years.
The name Spangelo is Norwegian and is made up of 'Spong'
and 'lo'. It likely means long, narrow meadow. Spangelo
is the name of an estate on the north side of the Laerdal River
in Norway in Borgund, a part of the Laerdal Kommune. The Laerdal
River flows westward to the Sogne Fjord.
An oil painting of the original Norwegian estate hangs above
the mantel at Long Meadow Victoria.
